BINGHAMTON- APRIL 7, 2020
Big I Southern Tier, a group of local independent insurance agents and insurance companies, recently made a $1,000 donation to the Broome County Council of Churches CHOW program.
Food banks are experiencing a 40% increase in demand, on average, according to Feeding America, a nationwide network of food banks and pantries.
“Protecting our communities is a core value within the insurance industry and public service plays an important part in living our mission.” says Big I President Siobhan Davey, “In times like these, everyone is called on to come together and support one another. More people need assistance right now, less food is being donated, and volunteers are staying home. This has created an emergent situation for our local food banks and we wanted to help.”
A $1,000 donation could provide up to 3,000 meals according to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.
